Overview
Borderlands 4 offers 98 optional quests that enhance the overall gameplay. Many of these tasks appear on your map when you explore Kairos and interact with the question mark icons. Yet several assignments remain hidden until activated by specific conditions, leaving some players with a lower count. The in-game Challenges section under the World tab reports about 93 completed tasks out of the total. If you find some assignments missing, the guide below outlines every concealed side mission along with the criteria to activate each one.
Breeding Daisies
Travel west from the Outbounders headquarters, known as The Launchpad, located in the Howl of the Fadefields. There, you will come across a character named Mort standing on a rock while being harassed by several Threshers near Gushing Turret. Once you eliminate these foes, speaking with Mort starts the quest titled “Breeding Daisies.” In this challenge, your objective is to enter a nearby cave, fight additional Threshers, and collect their eggs. Mort intends to use these eggs to rear a unique helper for his farm.
Whack-a-Thresher
After finishing “Breeding Daisies,” head to Mort’s farmstead, which lies just south of the Kit Hole Order Silo to the west of The Launchpad. At this location, Mort offers another challenge called “Whack-a-Thresher.” This mission is straightforward: you must physically subdue unruly Threshers by engaging them in close combat using punches and heavy kicks. The simple objective is to force these foes back to their duties. This lighthearted task provides an amusing change of pace amid the more intense confrontations found throughout the game.
Cave Encounter and “Forgive Me”
Proceed south of the Reliquary Order Silo in the Cuspid Climb area of the Terminus Range. Here, you will encounter a cave opening set against a backdrop of a roaring waterfall and the skull of a massive creature. Follow the path on the right to enter the cave and continue until you reach its southern end. There, a fierce Badass Psycho emerges from a narrow crevice. Defeat this formidable enemy to obtain the Desecrated Bolt—an item that triggers the quest titled “Forgive Me.”
Zanzibart’s Resting Place
Next, your objective is to locate the final resting place of Zanzibart, a site that is not marked on your map. Head into the northern part of Stoneblood Forest, which lies above the Snowy Wells safehouse. At a cave opening in this region, use the Desecrated Bolt on an ancient shrine. This action summons the Cursed Myrmidon of the Cruel Dawn. Once you defeat this enemy, a lore keeper named Vycarias will engage you in an extended monologue lasting around ten minutes, thereby completing the quest.
The Neverending Quarry
Move into the Terminus District within Dominion and approach the Ironwall Resolve Order Bunker. Before ascending the main stairs, take a detour to the right into a small room containing a conspicuous red chest. Upon opening it, step back quickly as the chest detonates. This explosion initiates the quest “The Neverending Quarry.” In the brief dialogue that follows, a group of Rippers appears, and your task is to defeat these enemies. Finishing this mission also sets the stage for a subsequent connected quest later on.
A Quarry of Epic Proportions
Remain in the Terminus District and use the Fast Travel Station at Frantic Scrawl. Traverse a network of tunnels toward the north until you find a solitary vending machine. Be cautious because interacting with this machine triggers an explosion. This detonation launches the quest “A Quarry of Epic Proportions.” During the encounter, you face an ambush by an increased number of Rippers. Defeat the onslaught of foes, and upon their defeat, the challenge concludes, setting the stage for one final mission.
The Final Quarrel
Proceed to the southwestern area of the Terminus District and enter the Food Court Safehouse. Inside, follow a pathway north until you reach a dead end where you discover a lone dumpster. Opening this container causes an explosion, similar to previous traps. This action starts the quest “The Final Quarrel.” In the ensuing conflict, Horatio and his band of Rippers attack. Eliminate these enemies, and with Horatio defeated, you conclude the mission while removing the threat of his explosive setups.
Brew-Ha-Ha Quest
For players targeting the Brew-Ha-Ha quest, meet specific prerequisites first. Complete the “Hangover Helper” assignment provided by Ole Shammy, then finish the “Mob Justice” challenge given by The Boss in the Terminus Range. Successfully finishing these tasks activates further missions in The Pit and an extra challenge from Ole Shammy. To verify that the Brew-Ha-Ha quest has been activated, return to Shammy’s Shack at the Coastal Bonescape in the Fadefields. This final step confirms the addition of another hidden mission to your collection.
