A reliable method to locate him is to keep watch for the blue spirit birds that appear close to checkpoints. The first bird typically appears right by the checkpoint, signaling that you are close. Once you observe one of these blue birds, explore the surrounding area along the narrow path until you come across Elder Madox.
This method of following the faint blue figures offers a clear hint on where to search, making it easier for players to reach his location even if they are not certain of the layout. The presence of these birds serves as a subtle pointer to the location of Madox without giving away the exact route.
Refreshing Madox’s Inventory
When you meet Elder Madox, you have the opportunity to choose one free Unique item from a small, randomly generated selection. The list of available items can be refreshed, but only under specific conditions. Testing confirms that the only way to update his inventory is by advancing the level of the Kriar Peaks map. This requires two actions: firstly, raising your character’s level, and then completing a quest within the game. For instance, if the current Kriar Peaks level is 56, advancing to level 57 triggers an update to Madox’s selection, providing you with a new chance to pick an item that might better suit your play style.
It is important to remember that this reset procedure works only if you have not already selected an item from his stock; once a choice is made, it is fixed permanently. You can verify the present level of Kriar Peaks by hovering over the corresponding icon on the World Map screen.
